The SIM Project is committed to protecting your privacy and complying with The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). This statement sets out how this is implemented across all of our communications channels, applications and networks, and details your rights in relation to your personal data that Counterpoints Arts captures, stores and uses.

What information do we collect?

You give us your information when you subscribe to our mailing lists, make a donation, tell us your story or communicate with us via email. We keep a record of the emails we send you and like most websites, we receive and store certain details whenever you use the The SIM Project website. The information collected in this way cannot identify you personally but provides data on what you do on the site.

The SIM Project website uses ‘cookies’ to help us make our site and the way you use it better. ‘Cookies’ are small text files that are stored by the browser on your computer or mobile phone. Many cookies are automatically deleted after you finish using the website, although some can exist for longer. You may refuse to accept cookies by deactivating them on your browser. We may combine information you provide to us with information available from external sources in order to gain a better understanding of our audiences. These sources include third party organisations such as independent fundraising sites like Google Analytics. We advise you to check their privacy policies when you give them your information to fully understand how they will process your data. 

What we use your information for

We aim to be clear when we collect your data and to not do anything you wouldn’t reasonably expect. If you sign up to our mailing list or give a donation we usually collect your name and contact details. We use this data to provide you with information on events and project updates. Occasionally we may let you know about partner organisations and organisations that support us. We make it easy for you to opt out of these communications at any time. Every email sent to you will tell you how to do this. If we run an event in partnership with another named organisation your details may need to be shared in order that they can help us run the event. 

Your rights

Control of your information is completely in your hands. You have the following rights related to your personal data:

  • The right to request a copy of personal information held about you.The SIM Project will respond to a data access request within 48 hours.We then have a month in which to fulfil the requests.
  • The right to request that inaccuracies be corrected
  • The right to request us to stop processing your personal data
  • The right to withdraw consent
  • The right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office or Fundraising Regulator
